Recoleta

Recoleta, an emblematic district of Buenos Aires, is distinguished by its imposing architecture, bustling commercial activity and its famous cemetery.  

Founded in the XNUMXth century, century, its name evokes the Convent and Church of the Recollect friars that lived in the area at that time. During the government of the first mayor of the city, Torcuato de Alvear, the neighbourhood underwent a metamorphosis, with the construction of luxurious palaces and the influence of European architectural styles, especially French. 

Today, Recoleta is a cultural and heritage landmark, housing the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Biblioteca Nacional and the Centro Cultural Recoleta, together with its historic Cemetery, and monumental portico, which attracts visitors from all over the world.
