Parque Rivadavia is one of the most visited green spaces in Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Located in the neighborhood ofCaballito, this green lung offers its visitors a haven of peace and tranquility amid the hustle and bustle of the City.
Here are its unmissable features.
A stroll through history and nature
Famous for its second hand book, magazine and record fair, it is one of the Citymost important parks. Originally known as Plaza Lezica, this park was designed by the prestigious French landscaper Carlos Thays, who left his mark on numerous green spaces in Buenos Aires. Its design, featuring an artificial lake surrounded by exuberant vegetation, is an example of Thays’ characteristic style.
This public space, covering an area of six hectares, is perfect for all ages. Children can enjoy the playground, while adults can visit the fair and enjoy nature.
Parque Rivadavia is also home to several sculptures. One of them is the Monumento a la Madre, by Luis Perlotti, a tribute to the maternal figure. Another highlight of the park is the Monumento a Simón Bolívar. Created by José Fioravanti, it portrays Libertador Simón Bolívar on horseback and features an arch 11 metres high and 22 metres wide.
The Fuente de la Doncella, known as Fuente Catalana, is also located in this park. It is a life-sized white marble sculpture depicting a nude woman drawing water from a basin. It was donated by the Catalan community in Argentina to Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Activities for all tastes
Parque Rivadavia is not merely a green space. In the western side of the park there is a fair where you can mainly find second-hand records and books. These are often old editions that are very difficult to find elsewhere.

On Sunday mornings, under the large ombú tree at one of the main entrances to the park, a fair is held for the purchase, sale, and exchange of items related to philately, numismatics, stock, telephone cards and postcards.

In the northwest side of the park, on Rosario St., there is a carousel and on Sundays the amphitheatre holds free shows for children. During the week several groups engage in outdoor physical activities such as yoga, tai chi and other disciplines.
The park also features a dog park, a children’s playground and a skate park.
Don't miss Parque Rivadavia´s charm in your next trip to the City.
