Come and discover it!
An evolved city
If we had to sum it up in a few words, we could say that the Ciudad Hidroespacial project is a proof of Košice ’s futuristic vision and of his belief in the power of art and technology to transform the world. It represents an ideal of progress, innovation and harmony between humanity and its environment
This fascinating work comes to life in the Planetario ’s dome, in an immersive production for all ages, co-produced by Malba (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires).
Košice devoted several decades of his life to exploring his Ciudad Hidroespacial, capturing his idea in a wide range of languages, such as models, sculptures, writings, poetry, photomontages and even drawings. With this material, the creators have produced an audiovisual work, preserving the artist’s distinctive imprint.
The projection is suitable for all audiences and features 360º recordings, 3D reconstructions, historical footage and audiovisual segments created with Artificial Intelligence.
The use of these resources recreated part of Košice’s imaginary, adapting analogue formats to others suitable for display in the vastness of this semi-sphere (like the Planetario’s ceiling). This made it possible, for instance, to replicate even the artist’s voice in new phrases, always preserving his imprint and essence.
Additionally, at the Planetario’s entrance visitors can enjoy one of his emblematic Gotas and on the way out, the workViviendas hidroespaciales en la Constelación de Jael bids them farewell. Both works were donated by the artist to the Planetario, a tribute to his devotion to this institution of scientific outreach.
An artist of the future
Gyula Košice is maybe the ultimate artist-inventor of Argentine art.
Born into a Hungarian family in 1924, he arrived in Argentina at the age of four and became a naturalized Argentine citizen. Sculptor, painter, theorist and poet, he was a pioneer of kinetic, lumino-kinetic and hydrokinetic avant-garde art, and of the fusion of art, science and technology.

From the outset, this artist’s works broke with convention, bringing a breath of fresh air to the national art scene. By the late 1950s, water became his source of inspiration. Fascinated by its plastic and physical features, Kosice immersed himself in the study of this vital element.
Based on his findings, he created transparent habitats that defied gravity, structures that floated in the air like suspended cities. This was the beginning of his most ambitious and visionary project: Ciudad Hidroespacial.
Do not miss this chance to immerse yourself in a world of ideas and emotions, where science and art merge to expand the limits of our understanding.
